Our Meetings
The ukulele is an incredibly fun and versatile instrument!
Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, please join us to share songs, techniques, music and uke talk. This is a chance to develop your musicianship and performance skills on the ukulele and be part of the growing ukulele community.
The regular club meetings are casual, drop-in jam sessions, with informal learning opportunities. We follow a song circle style where each person can pick a song for the group, perform a song solo, or pass. All musical styles are welcomed. The setting is very informal with no commitment required - just bring your ukulele and join us. The Basic and Beginner Ukulele Group (the BBUG) is a little more structured, with a greater focus on learning.
When
Starting September 12, 2022, we will be meeting every second Monday.
The Basic and Beginner Ukulele Group (the BBUG) will be playing from 6 pm to 7:30, and the Regular Group will be playing from 7:30 to 9:00.
Where
Meetings are held at 4061 - 4th Avenue , Whitehorse.
The entrance is off the parking lot on the north side of the Sport Yukon Building, At the Golden Age Society space.
(We may occasionally meet at other locations for specific events.)
We do what we can to minimize the risk to everyone - so we ask everyone to please come either fully vaccinated, or to come masked.
Music and donation
The suggested donation per meeting is $7.00. Monies collected are used to pay for venue rental and expenses such as ukulele event sponsorship, promotion, photocopying and poster printing. However, you should feel free to donate whatever amount you feel is appropriate and can afford. Your financial support is very much appreciated!
We will be using the spiral bound Uke On Ukulele Club songbook in the Regular Group. Limited quantities are usually available. The price can vary according to the print run, but it's usually about 10$ - we really just try to recoup the printing costs.
The Club can also use other music that individual members bring to meetings. If you want to bring new music, please bring 15 or so copies and give them to one of the leaders at the start of the session.
